NHS Tenders – How to be successful when Starting the Tendering Process
NHS Tenders and the process of tendering for the NHS generally is a costly and time intensive process. If you’re unsuccessful in your tender application it can be very disappointing given your time and effort needed.
At the start of the tender process when applying for NHS tenders you should think about what are the requirements of the tender and is your business in a position to provide the service that the NHS are looking for. There are a variety of questions you’ll want to address to determine your businesses suitability for the tender under consideration:
•In your company is there the necessary experience to do the job?
•Have you got the staff (or qualified staff) to deal with the requirements of the NHS tender?
•Have you had any prior experience with the NHS before?
•Have you had any experience with the kind of work that is required for the contract?
•Do you have the time and money to invest in the NHS tender writing process – bearing in mind that you might not win the tender?
•Do you have the necessary time and manpower to complete the project in the given time frame?
•Are you able to prepare your tender on time?
•Do you understand just what is expected from your company from the NHS tender?
Once you have identified that your company can meet the requirements and deliver to the required standard expected from the NHS tender, you can then start to consider the next stage of the process.
The next step in the NHS tender process is the Pre Qualification Questionnaire .
In the Pre Qualification Questionnaire you will be asked several questions regarding your business, finances and suitability to the contract. This will likely include:
•The background of your business
•The health safety policies of your business
•Information on your workforce including the skills and qualifications held
•Your company’s finances
•What relevant experience does your business have in the type of work required whether this is from previous NHS tenders, or similar tenders with other large organisations, they will want to see your company has a proven track record
Make sure the details which you provide as part of the Pre Qualification Questionnaire is applicable, and you also provide all the details asked for. If there is anything that is not clear, make sure you seek clarification. This is a method to draw up a shortlist, if you do not progress past this stage then your business has not met the suitability requirements of this particular tender .
If you have provided all the details and done the relevant research before completing the Pre Qualification Questionnaire then you should have every chance of progressing within the tender process, on to the invitation to tender stage. It is very important that you put in the effort at this early stage, if you want to progress and become successful with the NHS tenders which you submit an application for.
